  3. What is your experience in this business?
  4. Do you have the skills needed to operate this business? If not, will you get the necessary training?
  5. Do you plan to operate the business full-time (your source of income)?
  6. Do you plan to operate the business part-time (supplemental income)?
  7. If the business begins part-time, do you intend to eventually make it full-time?

  1. Will this be a service business? Or, will you sell products?
  2. What type of service will you provide?
  3. What type of products will you sell?
  4. Will you provide this service or products only to your local community?
  5. Who are your customers?
  6. What is the cost of the products or services you will offer?
  7. Who are your competitors? Where are they located?

Delivery of Products/Services

  1. Will your home based business products or services be provided exclusively on the Internet?
  2. Will your home business products or services be available only in your local community?
  3. How will you deliver your home based business products or services in your local community?
  4. Do you need to use suppliers or vendors?
  5. What are the zoning regulations for a home based business in your neighborhood?
  6. Do you plan to store your products in your home or home office or garage?
  7. Will your clients/customers come to your home business office?
  8. Do you get along with your neighbors?
  9. Do you need to allow for parking?
  10. Is special equipment required?

Home Based Business Financing

  1. Will you use your savings to capitalize your home based business?
  2. Will you seek outside financing for your home based business?

After you have answered these questions, reviewed them carefully, and decided on your home based business, keep them. The answers will help in constructing a more formal business plan.
